New Year, New Beginnings

The sunset is breathtaking. The sun hovers above the horizon – a place where land and the heavens embrace. For moments now, the sun has been changing color, from bright yellow, to a deep orange tinge. Soon, it turns to a purple to red ball slowing sinking into the ground. The day is bidding us farewell, as night lingers in the distance. Soon it will be a new day called tomorrow. Today’s pain, the challenges, the struggles or even the joys of today will soon be swallowed up by night and sleep. Tomorrow will bring its own troubles and joys.

The sunset is breathtaking on this New Year’s Eve. The year that’s about to end has brought forth pain, challenges, struggles, joys and celebrations. For me, numerous significant milestones mark the year that’s about to end. In 2023, I achieved a long-awaited dream—earning a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership degree from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, witnessing my daughter embark on her career as an emergency room nurse brought immense joy. More recently, my family and I arrived in CA to take up new appointments at the College For Officers Training. Anxiety and hope define the mixed feelings.

The sunset is breathtaking – a reminder of God’s faithfulness. He has been with us throughout the day, so, He shall surely be with us over night. A new day will bring a fresh start. His mercies are new every morning.

The sunset is breathtaking on this beautiful New Year’s Eve – a reminder of God’s faithfulness throughout the year. I am confident, God will surely be with us in 2024. A new year brings new opportunities and blessings. I sit here in gratitude for the blessings of 2023, and in anticipation of the blessedness of the upcoming year. Happy New Year!!
