We are living in peculiar times, where many are plagued by fear. Most of us are scared of the Coronavirus. Most of us are worried about our jobs, finances, mounting debt, and social unrest. Questions such as these race through our minds : Are we safe? Are our loved ones safe? When will this be over? What really is going on?

Whenever I am in fear, I run to God’s Word. I search through the Scriptures for those comforting, encouraging, and strengthening verses. Here are a few of my favorite verses I use to combat fear:

Psalm 23:4-5, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Joshua 1:9, “ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Psalm 56:3, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

 Isaiah 43:1, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

 Psalm 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?”

Romans 8:31, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

 Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

 Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
